Save the Mothers East Africa (STM) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to reducing preventable maternal and newborn deaths through leadership development, health system strengthening, research, and community engagement.
For more than two decades, STM has worked alongside health professionals, communities, institutions, and development partners to strengthen maternal and newborn health systems and advance sustainable solutions that save lives.
Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), STM equips multidisciplinary leaders and strengthens health systems to improve the survival and well-being of mothers and newborns across Uganda and beyond.

That universal access to quality maternal care in pregnancy and childbirth is a basic human right.
That no mother or child should die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth.
To train local leaders in the developing world to reduce maternal mortality within their own countries.
STM2026 was more than a conference: It was a call to action. On 24 April 2026, over 200 stakeholders convened at Uganda Christian University for the Save the Mothers Maternal & Child Health Conference under the theme: “Every Change Project Matters: Multidisciplinary Collaborations to Reach Every Woman, Every Newborn, Everywhere.”
This self-sponsored MPHL program is open to students from all parts of theworld who have completed a Bachelor’s Degree in any field, such as law, education, politics, social sciences, clergy, media, and health care; who are passionate about maternal & child health. The MPHL is specially designed for students to continue their work while pursuing their studies. The MPHL is a two years program with two semesters each year. Each semester runs for three months with lectures delivered in a hybrid format: 70% is delivered online and 30% onsite.
