About Save The Mothers

Save the Mothers East Africa (STM) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to reducing preventable maternal and newborn deaths through leadership development, health system strengthening, research, and community engagement.

For more than two decades, STM has worked alongside health professionals, communities, institutions, and development partners to strengthen maternal and newborn health systems and advance sustainable solutions that save lives.

Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), STM equips multidisciplinary leaders and strengthens health systems to improve the survival and well-being of mothers and newborns across Uganda and beyond.

WE WORK

In partnership with other like-minded groups and individuals.
“This is not a woman’s issue. This is a development issue.”

BELIEF

That universal access to quality maternal care in pregnancy and childbirth is a basic human right.

VISION

That no mother or child should die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth.

MISSION

To train local leaders in the developing world to reduce maternal mortality within their own countries.

Annual maternal & CHILD HEALTH CONFERENCE 2026
